Scott was born in Mt. Clemens, MI the son of James and Karen Kilgo. He went on to graduate from Sterling Heights Stevenson High School in 2002. Scott received his degree in Mortuary Science from Worsham College in Wheeling, Illinois in 2006. He married Charla Smith in 2011. They have 4 children Korbin, Avery, Ella, and Jonas. Scott and Charla are members of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. Scott and his family enjoy raising registered Belgian horses, cattle, and spending time together as a family. He is honored to serve the people of Charlotte, Olivet, and the surrounding communities. Scott is looking forward to the opportunity to build on the long standing relationships that our firm has established over the past 114 years. Scott, Charley and the staff of the Burkhead-Green-Kilgo Funeral Home will never take lightly the trust and responsibility that families place in them.
Charley was born October 29, 1937, the son of Fordyce L. and Edna C. (Schwan) Green. He was raised in Charlotte and graduated from Charlotte High School in 1955. Charley attended Olivet College and Wayne State University Department of Mortuary Science, where he graduated in 1961. In 1963, he married LeAnn Heisler of Olivet. Together Charley and LeAnn raised two sons, Jeffrey (Lisa) and Michael (Lori). Charley began working at the funeral home in 1955. Since the Olivet business also included the furniture store, he worked there as well. Charley and LeAnn purchased both funeral homes in 1980, continuing to serve Charlotte and its surrounding communities.
Keith Litwiller has enjoyed working full-time as a Funeral Director’s Assistant at the Burkhead-Green-Kilgo Funeral Home since the summer of 2018. He with his wife, Jeanette, and their children, Pierre and Emma, moved from Gratiot County to rural Vermontville in the spring of 2019. They have experienced the blessings of making many new friends in the Charlotte area!
Keith and his family have spent several years in West Africa as missionaries for their church; The Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. He is an ordained minister in that Mennonite church and finds fulfillment in visiting with and helping the many families we are honored to serve as they go through their valley of grief.
Prior to mission work overseas, Keith and Jeanette owned and operated The Hearthstone Oven Bakery and Café in downtown Ithaca. Situated along US-127, the restaurant has become a destination spot for many people around the state and continues today with the same integrity and detail to customer service as well as quality, homemade food.
As a lover of nature, Keith enjoys the outdoors and spending time in the woods and caring for Hereford cattle on their family farm in Kalamo Township. He also enjoys acapella gospel singing, reading and reciting poetry, grilling and smoking meat, and traveling to see new sights and historical places, and of course most of all, spending time with his family!
Neil was born in Charlotte and has lived in Charlotte ever since his birth, accept for the 6 years he was away to college and the Air Force. He graduated from Charlotte High School in 1959 and went on to college at Western Michigan University where he earned a degree in Industrial Electronic Technology. After finishing college, Neil spent one and a half years at Keesler AFB Biloxi, Mississippi attending school for aircraft navigation systems for the F105 Fighter Bomber. He was deployed to Japan, South Korea and Thailand for a 2 year tour (1963-1964). After Neil was discharged he went to work for Michigan State University in the Language Lab and was in charge of electronic repair of equipment for students in the Peace Corp. Neil married his high school sweetheart, Leila (Noah) Klaiss in 1965 and they have two daughters together; Melissa Klaiss Martino and Elizabeth Klaiss. In 1967 he left MSU and went to work for Klaiss TV in Charlotte and then bought the shop in 1977. Neil joined the Charlotte Fire Department in 1977 and served there for 34 years before retiring in 2011. He also joined Kiwanis in 1977 and eventually became president of Kiwanis Homes, a local retirement community. He served as president for 26 years and is still a member of the board as treasurer. In 2006 Neil closed his TV shop after 47 years in business. He has enjoyed working part time for the funeral home since 2002.
